Weststar Introduces the all-new Actros & Arocs to Nigeria
Tuesday the 16th of October
2018 marked the beginning of a new dimension in Nigeria as we unveiled the
all-new Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs to the Nigerian Market. At Weststar
Associates Limited we have continued to do the good work of Mercedes-Benz in
Nigeria for over a decade and this occasion marked another landmark for our
continued growth in this terrain. This landmark occasion was celebrated at the
Weststar Headquarters in Lekki, Lagos with members of the press, customers as well as representatives of Daimler AG from Germany and Dubai.
This special event was brought into
procession by the Chief Financial Officer of Weststar Associates Limited, Mrs. Mary
Ojulari, standing in place of Mr. Mirko Plath, CEO Weststar Associates Limited,
who was unavoidably absent. Mrs. Mary Ojulari emphasized Mercedes-Benz’s
dedication over the years to earn its respect and recognition in the Nigerian
market especially in the heavy-duty truck segment as the number 1 brand
fulfilling customers’ needs. While thanking the guest for making time to be at
the event she also assured them that they will be impressed with all the
heightened benefits that come along side the new Actros & Arocs once they
are unveiled.
Guests were treated to refreshments and
soft music at the event which gave the atmosphere of a networking mixer as they
got to socialize with members of the Weststar team and Mercedes-Benz
representatives from Germany & Dubai. A teaser movie was then previewed by
the guests as they got a glimpse of things to come in the Mercedes-Benz
showroom in Lekki.
Head of Sales and Customer Service,
Mercedes-Benz Trucks: Mr. Torsten Bauerheim was the next person to address the
audience. He started by declaring; “It is time for Africa. I am delighted to be
here with you, to celebrate a great milestone of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. You and
your region are of high importance to us.” He also mentioned that Mercedes-Benz
is prepared to unveil its new generation of truck to Africa, especially Nigeria
and that the all-new Actros and Arocs is the signifier of this new dimension.
He went on to emphasize on some of the highlights in these new trucks which
include the Mercedes Powershift 3 and the Euro III 6-cylinder engine. He also
highlighted the economic benefits as well as the Total Cost of Ownership
customers will enjoy while operating these vehicles. Other members of the Daimler
team present were the Sales Manager Mercedes-Benz Trucks Africa: Mr. Hansjeorg
Richter and Head of Regional Center Africa, Mercedes-Benz: Mr. Naeem
Hassim.
Following the address from Daimler’s representative,
it was show time, the moment everybody was waiting in anticipation for! Guests
at the Mercedes-Benz showroom were drawn by rumbling noises from Yoruba
traditional drums outside the showroom, this ushered in a parade of elegantly
dressed traditional dancers who dance gallantly into the compound and sang
songs of praise as they unveiled the “kings of trucks” to the guests who were
mind blown by the theatrics and the performance. This was indeed a sight to
behold. Guests then got the opportunity to see the all-new Actros and Arocs
first hand with members of the Weststar team providing all the necessary information
and feedback for the curious audience.
There were a few guests who got the
opportunity to test drive the all-new Actros and Arocs with Weststar’s driver
trainer, Mr Ebenezer Balogun. This interactive session gave guests a chance to experience
some of the highlights of the trucks like the driving experience, ergonomics,
powertrain and the telematics system. Mrs. Julie Chi Nwaoha, a motoring
journalist representing OnWheels Magazine commented that the driving experience
on the new Actros was one of the most enjoyable she has ever had driving a
truck.
The whole Weststar team is full of
appreciation and thanks to all the guests and stake holders who came together to
make the Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs launch a huge success. Businesses in
haulage and construction can now acquire the all-new Actros and Arocs as they
are now available for immediate order in Nigeria courtesy of Weststar
Associates Limited.
