Weststar joins the ANWFCC in the search for the next female football star.

The Association of Nigeria Women Football Club Coaches (ANWFCC) kicked off the 2019 edition of their annual Women’s All-Star Football Competition. This competition is an initiative put together by Nigerian women’s football coaches to reach out to the grass roots and identify the next big talents in female football in Nigeria. Weststar Associates Limited, the authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria is a company that strongly believes in hard work and opportunity and so when a chance came for us to partner with the ANWFCC we fully embraced it.

As an ardent supporter of women emancipation and gender equality, Weststar Associates Limited, authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria was proud to co-sponsor this year's edition of the competition. In recent times the Super Falcons , Nigeria's national female football team have performed excellently by winning the CAF Women's championship a record 11 times and have participated in the FIFA Women's World Cup on 8 occasions. It only makes sense that the Nigerian female teams are continually encouraged to do even more so they can reach their full potential.

Weststar was represented by Team Germany at the Women’s All-Star Football Competition, the team wore the Mercedes-Benz crest on their kit with pride as they competed for the ultimate prize. Our sponsored team did us proud at this event and they ended up as runners up after getting to the final. Weststar is pleased to have a platform to encourage and empower young women to follow their passion and be the best at what they do, following the Mercedes-Benz tagline “The best or nothing”.

There was also an all-star game between the past stars and the present stars. Mercedes-Benz was the sponsor of the past stars team that featured Nigerian female football and sports legends that included the likes of Chioma Ajunwa Opara, Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist.

Mr. Michael Bromberger and Mrs. Mary Ojulari were present at the event to represent the company.
