Team News - October 2018

In this edition, we had a brief chat with the new additions  to the Sales team and the IT department in Weststar. They share their backgrounds and experiences with spotlight on their favorite Mercedes-Benz models.

Funmilola Ogunjinmi - ICT Support Staff 

Funmilola Ogunjinmi a graduate of Computer Science Madonna University Elele River state. She describes herself as an intelligent yet honest individual with lots of enthusiasm and is friendly to work with. Her hobbies include reading, traveling and watching movies.

 She has served in various capacities in the IT sector, to start with, Funmi has worked with Guaranty Trust Bank as an archive personnel where she was saddled with the responsibility of keeping customers invoices information by scanning and keeping them safe. Her passion for IT took her through a new career path which is Networking.

Funmi gained networking experience ranging from routers and switches, basic configuration, troubleshooting, and resolution of fault, periodic maintenance of switches and routers which has to do with cable management and this prompted me to acquire CCNA Certification. In addition, Funmi possess event management, incident management, problem management skills and ITIL foundation certification.

Funmi joined Weststar Associates Ltd on the 6^th August 2018 as an IT support staff. When asked about her experience so far, she described it as exciting and evolving with new challenges each day. In quote “the environment and staff has made my presence here worthwhile. I love vehicles and my dream car is Mercedes Benz G class for comfort and style”.

Asiwaju Oluwafemi R - Sales Executive, Commercial Vehicles

Asiwaju Oluwafemi R, joined Weststar Associates Limited on 6^th August,2018 as sales Executive for commercial vehicles.

Femi hails from the western part of Nigeria in Ekiti state.  He completed his primary education in Royal Gate Nursery and Primary school, in Lagos and Secondary School Education in Lagos State Model college, Badore in. where he held the position of the Senior prefect boy in 2004/05.

The zeal to become a fulfilled Engineer someday, Femi moved the ancient city of Ibadan where he earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Ibadan. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sales at the prestigious University of Lagos.

Femi narrates his encounter with the Head of Marketing Division, a seasoned Engineer and Marketing Executive of NPDC during his service as a Youth Corps Member in Ugbogui, North West Local Government, Edo state. He describes his encounter as intriguing and eye opening. This encounter has led to his interest and pursuit in Sales.

In Femi’s 3-year sales experiences, in 2015, worked as Retail Channel Executive/Team lead with Quickteller Paypoint, a leading brand in the mobile payment platform.

He later moved to Iflux Nigeria Limited in 2016, a subsidiary of Techno Brand as a corporate Sales executive. Within the period, he was referred by his Manager, who moved to Pacific Solution Technologies (PST), and in 2017, he joined PST where he worked as a Business Development Executive in Network security solution, Board room automation and Video conferencing in Nigeria.

On his new appointment with Weststar Associates Femi stated that “having had an opportunity to serve on the team that sells Mercedes-Benz, a premium brand, to high end customers is much of a feeling ever-desired.   Mercedes- Benz is a brand that has touched lives, with the saying “Trucks you can trust”. Trust is the key perception to everyman’s commitment.”

Basically, He is a go-getter and result oriented. He is driven by excellence in any field he finds himself in. Based on the nature of his job, Femi is very affable, and thrilled by innovations. He loves sight-seeing and travelling to new locations. Femi loves social gatherings but like to keep it safe and simple.

His favorite Mercedes-Benz Model is the E-coupe because of the eye catchy interiors, the innovation behind the built of the car and its performance.
