Team News - August 2018

In this edition, we had a brief chat with the new additions to the Corporate Affairs and Marketing team in Weststar. They share their backgrounds and experiences with spotlights on their favorite Mercedes-Benz models.

Joy Itegboje - Corporate Affairs Executive

Joy Itegboje joins Weststar Lagos as Corporate Affairs Executive / Executive Assistant to the MD, on June 4^th, 2018. Her primary roles include; handling the public affairs for Weststar Associates, creating and communicating a favorable public image as well as managing the administrative duties of the MD’s back office.

Joy comes with about 5 years work experience across the Finance, Logistics & Maritime and Entertainment industries. Over this duration, she has worked as a Marketing Assistant at BEN Television London, Marketing Communication Executive at The Concept Group Limited Nigeria and SIFAX Group as the Corporate Affairs Executive.

She attained a degree in Business Management from the University of Greenwich, South London in 2013. During her formative undergraduate years, Joy volunteered to work collaboratively with the Nigerian embassy in United Kingdom as Assistant Secretary of the Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom (CANUK) an umbrella body representing all Nigerians in the United Kingdom with the aim to protect, unify and empower Nigerians in the United Kingdom.

She loves to cook, travel and generally socialize and her favorite Mercedes-Benz model is the CLS because of its elegance and timeless aura.     

Oluwatobi Abimbola - Public Relations & Social Media Assistant

Oluwatobi Abimbola has joined Weststar as Public Relations and Social Media assistant on 14^th May 2018.  He was born and raised in Lagos state, where He had had his primary and secondary school education.

Tobi, as he is fondly called, graduated from Babcock University, Ogun State with a degree in Mass Communication, majoring in Public Relations and Advertising. In 2012 after completing his degree, Tobi began his career in Public Relations, working with companies such as Chocolate City Group and The Bobby Taylor Company. In 2017 Tobi attained an MSc in Marketing Communication from the School of Media & Communication (SMC), at the Pan Atlantic University in Lagos.

Shortly after completing his MSc, Tobi joined the marketing team at MultiChoice Nigeria as part of the PR and Social Media set up.

He has worked on projects for brands such as One.org, Hard Rock Café, Hennessy, Moet & Chandon, Johnny Walker’s Blue Label, Sony Music, Fela on Broadway, Coke Studio, Big Brother Nigeria, The Voice Nigeria, The Premier League, The UEFA Champions League, Telemundo and more. Tobi has also represented award winning celebrities like D’Banj, M.I Abaga, Seyi Shay, Ice Prince, Black Magic, DJ Cuppy on some of their most successful projects as PR representative and publicist.

As a lover of great brands, he did not think twice about joining the Mercedes-Benz Nigeria team when the opportunity was presented. 

He describes himself as a reserved yet outspoken person.  Speaking about his likes and values, Tobi loves to engage in a good conversation, he is also particular about the legacy he leaves behind while making a positive impact in the society.

Being a huge fan of the Mercedes-Benz Brand like Tobi is, it is difficult to narrow a favorite choice of car to one model. Notwithstanding, Tobi would go for the E-Class because it makes a statement without being the center of attention.
