In this edition, we had a chat with the new members of our team in Abuja, they gave us an insight into life at Weststar so far and we also found out which is their favorite Mercedes-Benz brand.
James Jonathan's Interview
James Jonathan is an
Account Assistant who has recently joined the Weststar workforce in the Abuja
branch precisely.
James is an indigene of Abia state, Nigeria who was born and brought up
in Lagos state where he attended his primary and secondary school. He attained
his tertiary education in Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri
in Imo State.
In 2013, James gained work experience with Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in
Victoria Island while studying for his degree.
After completing his studies at the polytechnic, he worked with “Save
the Children International” an international NGO, as a Financial Assistant
between 2017 and 2018. His outgoing personality made it easy for him to mix up with
people from the 3 major ethic groups in Nigeria. As a result, James is
fluent in Igbo and Yoruba and speaks a bit of Hausa.
He will be
contributing to the Organisation by providing administrative support to the
Finance and Controlling team in Abuja as well as ensure smooth running and
maintenance of the accounts department under the supervision of the Management
Accountant.
He is excited about
this new journey and looks forward to a professional and proactive working
environment with his new colleagues.
In his leisure, he enjoys listening to music and reading educative books.
His favorite Mercedes-Benz model is the E350 because of its interior design.
Ibrahim Babatunde's Interview
Ibrahim Babatunde Olajide is
another addition to the Weststar family who joined the Abuja team as the
Management Accountant to assist senior management in making
critical financial business decisions. Ibrahim hails from Kwara
state but was born and raised in Kaduna State where he attained my primary and
secondary education.
To further his
education, Ibrahim moved to England where he enrolled at Lewisham College,
South London for his A levels. After his A levels, Ibrahim proceeded to study a
degree in accounting and Business Information Technology at the London
Metropolitan University. He graduated in the year 2004.
Ibrahim started his
professional career working in the Finance department of some medium to large
scale organizations in the United Kingdom gaining valuable experience. His work
experience spans across the following industries; logistics, service delivery,
transportation and health care delivery.
Upon his relocation to Nigeria he worked as an Accountant in the
construction Industry with Habibu Engineering and Building Management Solutions
before joining Weststar Associates.
As the Management
Accountant his duties entail assisting the senior management in making critical
business decisions by analyzing and presenting key financial data. He will
oversee accounting processes and prepare management report, forecasts, budgets
and risk analysis.
Ibrahim describes
himself as a very professional person and this has been his mantra in dealing
with people he has worked with. Ibrahim is a lover of sports, precisely
basketball, football and table tennis. He also enjoys reading, site seeing and
meeting people from different background.
When asked about
his favorite Mercedes-Benz model he stated, “My best Mercedes-Benz is the C-Class, because of its elegance and simplicity."
